Measuring energy consumption of individual devices with Shelly

In addition to monitoring a smart meter and various pulse and/or Modbus meters, it is also possible to read individual devices. For this purpose, smart plugs from the brand Shelly can be used. The CEMM can read these plugs via the network, so no additional cabling is required. In addition to power and energy readings, the CEMM can also measure voltage and current through Shelly devices.

In this scenario, it does not matter what is already connected to the CEMM, as long as the total number of connected meters does not exceed the maximum of 12.

CEMM ports

Port 3

CEMM port 3

Port 3 of the CEMM is the network connection. This is used to connect the CEMM to a router or switch via an Ethernet cable. The Shelly devices must be on the same network. The CEMM can then discover and pair them over the network.

Tip: Is your router too far away and running a cable not an option? Use a WiFi range extender with an Ethernet port to connect the CEMM to the internet via WiFi.

Port 5

CEMM port 5

Port 5 is used to power the CEMM. Plug the supplied power adapter into a socket and connect the micro USB connector to port 5.
